Star Party at D-Bar-A Scout Ranch in Metamora, Michigan

Seven Ponds Astronomy Club will again be participating in the D-Bar-A Scout Ranch star party near Metamora, Mi. There will be solar observing in the late afternoon, then various presentations in the main lodge, and then to cap off the days activities, there will be telescope observing in the evening.  As of this listing, plans are still being formulated as far as activities, presentation titles, etc. Keep checking this website as details become known.

AstroNite at U of M Flint

Seven Ponds Astronomy Club will be partnering with UM Flint and Longway Planetarium on their AstroNite public program featuring a visit by shuttle astronaut Story Musgrave.. This is a free, family-oriented event that includes a variety of activities for kids and adults. The club will be providing and manning telescopes for public viewing of the night sky on top of the Mill Street parking structure. Come out with your family and enjoy this free event. AstroNite takes place at the U of M Flint campus, Murchie Science Building, and atop the Mill Street parking structure.

Ford Amateur Astronomy Club "Astronomy Conference & Swap Meet"

The 15th annual Ford Amateur Astronomy Club Astronomy Conference & Swap Meet will be held on the Henry Ford Community College Dearborn Campus on April 7. There will be general astronomy presentations, technical talks for amateur astronomers, a swap meet, and planetarium shows.

State-Wide Astronomy Night (SWAN) at Longway Planetarium
Friday, April 20, 2018  8:00 PM to Midnight

Come on out for the State-Wide Astronomy Night (SWAN) star party at Longway Planetarium. We will have scopes set up on the south side of the building for telescope observing of the night sky, weather permitting. Feel free to bring a telescope if you have one. Also, Longway Planetarium will offer free shows for the evening, so this entire event is free.

"Couriers From Outer Space" and his meteorites by Mark Jeffery of the Oakland Astronomy Club

Mark Jeffery of the Oakland Astronomy Club is probably the foremost knowlegeable meteorite person in Michigan. Tonight Mark will have quite a few meteortites to show us and give us a presentation on these objects from other parts of our solar system.

Attica Library Outreach - "Introduction to Nighttime Observing"

Seven Ponds Astronomy Club will be providing a public outreach activity at the Imlay City Library branch in Attica, Michigan.
We will be hosting a public star party at the Attica Township Library (branch of Imlay City Library) and Attica Township Park on May 19. The program will consist of a short indoor program and then have telescopes available for public night sky viewing in the park directly behind the library afterwards. The indoor program will be at the library at 5:00PM and the telescopes will be at the park beginning at 8:00PM. This event is geared toward children and includes a craft activity where they will make planispheres. Cost to attend: Free. Bring your telescope if you have one and a lawn chair or just come for fun and to look through some scopes.
