Star Party at Longway Planetarium, Flint, Michigan
Saturday, June 3, 2017 8:30 PM

We will have scopes set up on the south side of the planetarium for telescope observing of the night sky including the Moon and Jupiter. Feel free to bring a telescope if you have one. If you would like to come early and take in a planetarium show while there, show ticket rates apply. Our event is free.

Longway Planetarium is located at 1310 E. Kearsley Street, Flint, Michigan 48503, 810-237-3400.

This event is "weather permitting". We will make a go/no go decision 24 hours in advance and post it on the club Facebook page as well as an email to the club.


Observing at the Luotonen's

The June, 2017 meeting will be a cookout and observing session at Paul and Debbie Luotonen's home near Attica, MI. The Luotonen's have a large, dark observing area and a building nearby for warming, snacks and hanging out. The Luotonen's will provide brats, condiments and supplies for the cookout. If you'd like to participate in the meal, please bring a dish to pass, drinks, a chair, etc. Please bring meat if you'd rathern skip the brats. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a member to attend. This event is free. The Luotonen's will also allow people to stay over in tents or trailers.
NOTE: This event is scheduled for June 17. However, we will meet on either June 16 or 17 depending on the weather. Please check the website leading up to the event.

Their address is: 131 N. Youngs Road, Attica, Michigan 48412. It is north and west of Imlay City, Michigan. Please note that Google Maps and others do not show the correct location. They are on Youngs Road, south of Attica Road. They are on the west side of the road, last house before the railroad tracks. If you pass the railroad tracks, turn around and come back to their house.

Attica Days Festival

The club will be providing solar telescopes during the 2017 Attica Days Festival for daytime observing. We will be helping on Saturday only. In addition, we will partake in the food and beverages offered by the various festival vendors. You can come for the entire day or for a shorter stint.The event location is 4350 Peppermill Road, Attica, Michigan 48412. Star Party at Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area
Saturday, July 29, 2017 7:30PM

We will be hosting a star party at Metamora Hadley Recreation Area, 3871 Herd Road, Metamora, Michigan on July 29.  The program will consist of a short indoor program and then have telescopes avilable for the campers in the park afterwards. The indoor program will be at the Red Barn at 7:30PM and the telescopes will be at the beach parking lot beginning at 9:30PM. Cost to attend: Free. If you do not have a recreation passport on your vehicle license plate, you will be required to obtain a one-day pass, available at the gate. Bring your telescope and a lawn chair.

Observing at the Bacis Farm

Tonight our club meeting will be at the Bacis farm. They have a great place for observing. Our club has observed here many times in the past. We will be operating out of the workshop or barn. John always has power available. As usual, please bring a snack or item to share. Their farm is located at 4365 Hollow Corners Road, Dryden, Michigan 48428 - only three miles from Seven Ponds Nature Center. Bring your scope and hope to see you there.
